Powerful tool.....

I have got a response to my RTI application.... I now know the amount that the State Government spent to run the assembly sessions. My application has been forwarded to other departments for the balance information (ie cost of the swearing in ceremony, setting up new offices, etc)........ I now believe filing applications under the RTI Act is a powerful tool..... We should start using it to make our netas and babus more accountable!!

As discussed in my below blog, i had decided to file applications under the RTI requesting for information on amount spent by the State Government. I have already filed 2 applications under the RTI and i am currently working on the PIL!!

New CM to Former CM in a week......

Just when it was time for the media to transition from calling Yeddyurappa a "new CM" to calling him a "CM"... he has become the "former CM". I was driving in front of Vidhana Soudha about an hour after the swearing in ceremony last week and I happened to take a few pictures to show what a mess the road was.... but by the time I could post this blog... the whole state appears to be in a mess!!!

All this is due to one person... Deve Gowda. I am really curious to know the expenditure incurred on having a swearing in ceremony, running the government for 7 days, changing all office name board, etc. All these expenses have been incurred only because of Deve Gowda. All these expenses have been incurred with our money (ie tax payers money). Had he (ie JDS) not changed his stand, Yeddy would not have been sworn in nor would he have resigned.

It is criminal to make the State incur expenses of this magnitude for ones personal whims and fancies especially when the roads, infrastructure is in such pathetic state.

I am seriously exploring options to get the above expense details using the RTI and thereafter explore the option of filing a PIL requiring the government to recover these expenses from Deve Gowda. Anybody willing to support me in this cause is welcome.

Who did you vote for??

Is there some problem with democracy?? Or is it only our politicians??

Deve Gowda and his son are the most powerful people and their party is virtually all set to decide the future of our state. JD(S) did not even get the highest number of seats in the last election. If Gowda and Gowda can be so powerful at a time when they have not even won the maximum seats.... I cant imagine what the state of affairs will be on a day when they get absolute majority!!!

In all states and every corner of the country, the Congress and the BJP are 'untouchable' to each other, have complete different ideologies and had nothing in common till today. Today, I think they share something in common - Being taken for a ride by Deve Gowda!!!

Not a Twenty20 we asked for!!

The political situation in Karnataka is not something any of us asked for or voted for! The famous Twenty20 power sharing arrangement between the JD(S) and BJP has done a lot of damage to the State.

If we were still ruled by Kings/Dynasties, we could not have taken the responsibility for a bad king at the helm of things. We could not have done anything and stopped the son of a king from taking over. A Prince would get power by birth and would be born powerful. However, that is not the case now. If Deve Gowda is as powerful as he is today, we are responsible. We voted for his party and gave him the number of seats he has today to control everything that happens. Deve Gowda was no where in the picture when Kumaraswamy and Yediyurappa agreed on the power sharing. In fact he had distanced himself from Kumaraswamy and stopped short of calling Kumaraswamy a stranger. But, today when the time has come to handover the power to the BJP, Deve Gowda is the single most powerful man in Karnataka.

We, the people of Karnataka, should collectively stand up and take responsibility for making Deve Gowda so powerful. Forget being honest, forget working for the development of the state, forget everything, Deve Gowda and his sons are people who are not keeping up a word, a commitment given in front of the people of the State.

This reminds me of the street cricket match I used to play on our streets. This is exactly like the situation of a team batting first, picking up a fight thereafter and not letting the other team bat!! Remember, as kids we always liked batting more than bowling! Let us wait to see if Kumaraswamy will let Yediyurappa bat in this match!!! Again the question here is not whether Yediyurappa is capable or if he would be a better CM, it is just about honoring a commitment.
